When we pray, God moves in power! Intercession is the primary means by which God releases His power and government on the earth! It has always been that way and it always will be! Intercession is what birthed creation (through Jesus' words as the Living Word). Intercession sustains creation, and intercession moves creation to the great redemption at the end of the age when Jesus returns and establishes His kingdom in the fullness in the Millennial Kingdom.
God has entrusted souls, cities, nations, etc. to the prayers of men! That is an astounding thought! If we do not pray, less happens- less people are saved, less justice is released, etc.!
This is not to say that God cannot move outside of our prayers. Obviously He can and does. But, when we do pray, more happens! Who knows the magnitude of things that can happen when we pray- the justice, salvation, healing, financial provision, reconciliation, etc. that God may grant!
As part of the Body, we have a job to do. One that God has entrusted to us. Of course we want to embrace the identity of sonship and the unconditional love and salvation available to us by grace alone. But we do not want to embrace an identity of sonship without responsibility. We are part of the family business and that business is global redemption. In a natural family business the sons do not avoid responsibility because of the grace of their dad, but instead join him in the responsibility of the work and are groomed to eventually take over. God, likewise trains us in the place of intercession to rule and reign in the next age.
If we fail at our "job" of intercession, God will not love us less, but less may happen on the earth.
I recently spoke a message at our WOW service on this subject. Stay tuned for the notes and audio clip!
